Why we brought hand-woven leather to SmartPik

Most of what we sell at SmartPik is practical: things for the rain, the commute, the kitchen. But some things earn their place by lasting, not by being cheap. The first time we held the Irodori long wallet from Tannor, it was obvious this was one of them.
Each wallet starts as strips of chrome-tanned cowhide that are woven by hand into a single panel, so no two come out exactly alike. The zip runs all the way around, and inside there’s room for cards, notes and a coin pocket. It works as a small clutch as much as a wallet.
It comes in three colours: burgundy, cognac and fuchsia. We brought in a small first batch, and once they’re gone the next batch depends on the weavers, not on us. If one of them catches your eye, that’s worth knowing.
